You can watch a short film about Hoover's life in the Visitor's Center and then just a few minutes walk from there, you can go into the house where Herbert was born. There is also a school house, blacksmith shop, and Quaker meeting house that you can go in to. After you are done visiting this site you can either walk or drive over to the adjacent Herbert Hoover Presidential Library and Museum hoover.archives.gov/. This was a very nice and fairly new facility. There are several exhibits you can walk through and see items from the former president's life as well as video clips. There is a small entry fee to the library/museum. This is NOT run by the NPS, but rather the National Archives. President Hoover and his wife Lou are buried just beyond on a hill that faces down towards the small house where Herbert was born. Plan to spend a few hours visiting both the National Historic Site and his Presidential Museum. We spent probably 3 hours between both sites. It was time well spent. If you happen to be a fan of the History Channel show "American Pickers" they are based out of LeClaire, Iowa which is only about 50 minutes East of the Hoover site.
