Just a short drive North from Flagstaff, AZ, the Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument and the Wupatki National Monument are connected by a 23 mile road. Unfortunately, we arrived just minutes before Sunset Crater's visitor center closed, which meant that the Wupatki was also closing and we would not be able to make it there in time.
The big sign for Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument is about 5 miles past the visitor center. It's right where you would turn to go up a small hill to get a good view of the Volcano.
You can only get the Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument stamp at this visitor center, though you can buy patches for all 3 of the area's national monuments (including Walnut Canyon National monument - located south of Flagstaff.)
